Appt. 11:45am done 2:30pm
Don't have much in the way of details as Gil went right over to church after his appointment.
I do know he is rather tired, but I think work gets his mind off things: "keeping things as normal as possible"...more details to come...
2:30pm booster shot
11am sat. Funeral @ church
Sunday Super Bowl party @ church
Danielle volunteered today at Largo Med., I had my dermatology appointment then took snoopy for a run before picking Dani up. Trying to keep snoopy happy since he didn't go to the dog park this morning; didn't make much sense for Gil to take him with that pump attached.
Trying to keep everyone happy.
We use the name No One's Ark because many of our pet's were unwanted - at one time. Now they are ours. ........ You will read about Gil & I and our life as it unfolds, our many pets, nephew's, nieces, students...and other characters. Have fun!!

Day 2
Appt. 10:30am; done by 1:15pm
ifosfamide (i-FOS-fa-mide)
Not 100% sure of what all he was given today. I believe it was a repeat of what he had yesterday (etoposide (e-TOE-poe-side)) with the Ifosfamide (with anti-nausa) as a 24 hour or so? The paperwork he brought home only had information about the pump. He does have a little bag with a pump and the meds that he is hooked up to. He is complaining of achy-ness and, of course, they want him to drink a LOT so he pee's a lot. The Emend and other anti-nausea drugs seems to be working very well, although I am hyper-aware of every cough and hiccup.
Almost surreal. he's too young to be attached to a bag (no wife jokes, please). I have noticed him being a little unsure of somethings - maybe confusion, just may be a sign of being overwhelmed. He does seem fatigued (big surprise, right?)
I'm getting tired of dealing with the insurance company - 2 phone calls today about our little fender bender Thursday - even interrupted my workout - grrr. What seemed like such a benign accident seems to be a big deal to insurance companies. At some point I guess I need to get my car checked out (the adjusters office is open 7am - 7pm).
Well tomorrow is the last day of chemo (Carboplatin?); we'll see if he goes to church/work afterward. So far it seems like 'a-go'..

Day 1
Formerly Gil treatment was ABVD back in 2005-06
doxorubicin, which was originally called Adriamycin®, bleomycin, vinblastine , dacarbazine.
I think this is the ICE regimen Gil will be on this time. Not sure...we'll find out!
On the following day (day three) you'll be given a third infusion of etoposide, again over about an hour. You will finish your 24-hour infusion of ifosfamide and mesna, and be given a 12-hour infusion of mesna on its own. After this, you'll have a rest period with no chemotherapy for 17 days. This completes a cycle of your treatment. Each cycle lasts for 21 days (three weeks).
After the rest period (three weeks after you started) the same drugs will be given to you again, beginning the next cycle of your treatment. Usually 2–4 cycles of treatment are given over 2–4 months. This makes up a course of treatment.

Appt at 1pm; out by 2:45pm
Etoposide (VP-16); aloxi & decadron (anti-nausea drugs) plus took Emend 1 hour prior to visit
Feeling ok, but feeling tired; a little dizzy (loopy in the head is how he put it)
Not sure he'll appreciate the picture, but I wanted to show how both dogs are keeping watch over him (mind you, Merlyn is practically deaf, so he feels everything)

Wild couple of days
Thursday 1/24
On the way home from work, actually to AT&T to take care of Danielle's pre-paid phone, we got rear-ended. I stopped for a car that was stopping for an ambulance and saw the sheriff coming behind me. Don't think I got anything out of my mouth before he hit us...I knew it might happen. He was looking for the sirens behind him, look front and...surprise! So he started to write it up - we moved off to their offices which were right near by (on Ulmerton between 113th and Seminole) - and two other officers showed up to write up the accident. No damage to my car except some minor dents in the tail pipe; took the grill completely off his cruiser; and no injuries. I also never touched the car in front of me so he left after making sure all was ok.
After dinner, Danielle started complaining of hip pain. She possibly twisted and strained against the seat belt - I think - so she wanted to get it checked out 'tomorrow' - Friday, after Gil's surgery. hmmm....
Friday 1/25
Gil had his port surgery. We were at the hospital shortly after 6am. We went through billing about 6:45 and then he was taken back for prep. I went back to see him about 7:30 and they promptly took him back to pre-op. They had a monitor in the waiting room that let you know the status of your 'case'...he was in pre-op a LONG time. I think an operation before him must have taken longer than planned. Anyway, he was done and I was allowed to go back to recovery/holding just after 11am and we left just after noon. After debating how to get his meds and the kid, who had been texting me on & off while waiting about going to the ER, and taking care of all that, I dropped him off at home and got him settled in.
Left the house around 1 pm, went to Walgreens and dropped off his script and off the school. I kept hoping her wanting to go the the ER would fall by the wayside, but no. She wanted to get checked out in case anything was wrong; "better safe than sorry" she kept saying.
So we got it cleared with her insurance and I took her to Largo Medical, where she also volunteers. It was probably around 2:30pm ...and I waited till about 3:30. She was in waiting for radiology. She kept telling me to go, so I figured I'd go ahead, pick up Gil's meds, play with snoopy for a bit, etc. While standing in line I got a call: She's under 17, I need to show her guardianship papers, and give some of my private info. I was in the middle of Walgreens and really did not want to give out my social security number! I told her I'd call back, but when I did, it was just a matter of getting back to the hospital with the needed paperwork. Grrrrr.....I went home, angrily apologized to Gil that he'd have to take care of the dogs, and stormed off back to Largo Med (which resulted in some angry banter), did what needed to be done, and sat with her in her room. I got a little impatient and started asking where things stood with her - finally got the Dr. who said x-ray's looked good, probably some strained muscles, so anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxants were prescribed. Off for home about 5:30pm...stop and put in her 'scripts...home to order pizza, a little laundry, try to settle down.
Was very glad to go to sleep. I know I'm probably babying Gil too much, but I wasn't able to care for him properly and feel very guilty.

Here we go...
So after a little mix up, I guess things are starting to roll. Moffitt has signed off on Gil having Chemo done before being evaluated for his marrow transplant, so the port goes in Friday 1/25 and chemo starts Monday 1/28.
This is where it get's hard. A while back when all this started, we were taking a nap one day over the Thanksgiving holiday. Gil started to cry in his sleep. It was only for a moment, but it really disturbed me. This is when you realize how difficult this is. It's hard to feel fine, and know you are about to be made so sick on purpose; you're about to be poisoned in the name of a cure. You wonder if it's worth it? what would happen if left untreated, and how long would it be?
We'll never really know.
Anyone up for customizing a barf bucket?

let the whirlwind begin...
"Ok, this is what I know so far; I see the Surgeon about putting a "Port" in on Monday. Dr. Ball hopes it's in by Thursday, and I should start a Chemo treatment called I.C.E. by the 29th. The possible hold up is Moffitt, I'm waiting to find out if they need to see me before treatment, or not. The treatment will be 3 days of chemo, off 21 days. It's a very rough chemo (of course what chemo isn't?), rougher then the last one I did. Hopefully only 2 treatments (fingers crossed) Then a bone marrow transplant, which I will be my own donor. I'll keep you posted." ~ Gil
Gil finally got his appointment with Moffitt: 9:30 am on February 7th; this is for a bone marrow evaluation and....not sure what else, but they suggested I come along and that he should block out about 4 hours for whatever it is they are going to do.
Right after that he got phone call from his oncologist that he needed to be seen right away: 11:45 friday morning (today, Jan 18th). That's where the above information comes in. He has an appointment on Monday, jan 21st with Dr. Berry regarding getting the port put in; looks like Dr. Ball is planning for things to get started pretty quick now. ICE refers to the chemo regimen of Ifosfamide, Carboplatin, and Etoposide that is administered over a series of 3 days, then 21 days off; he is hoping for 2 rounds. Then it seems this will all be followed by a bone marrow transplant - of his own marrow. Not sure how that works, but we'll find out!
The problem is, Dr. Ball wants to start chemo before he is seen by the Dr. at Moffitt, which I'm thinking will alter the marrow before it's tested or harvested, so we have a call into moffitt to check on this.
BTW - still in search of a new host family for Danielle. We thought we were all set with a family and she was ready to move this weekend, but they changed their mind.

PET & Bone marrow biopsy
Gil had his PET scan this week and on Friday, he had a follow up with Dr. Ball and his bone marrow biopsy.
According to Dr. Ball, the PET scan revealed that his tonsils are lighting up - about an 8 where as the other nodes are about a 4 or under - higher the number, the worse it is. I guess they use some pretty radioactive stuff, because one of the nurses was pregnant and couldn't go near anyone once the contrast was injected. So his tonsils must have adsorbed a lot of the contrast and, BANG, there they are. Unusual, but not enough that the Dr. wants to take them out; our assumption is that as long as it is self contained, why risk letting it out? Otherwise we really don't know why to leave them in.
The bone marrow biopsy went well. He's sore but functioning without a cane or any assistance. Getting up and down from sitting or using stairs gets old pretty quick. We still have not heard from Moffitt about his evaluation or recommendations regarding a transplant. There appears to be an appointment on the books for Jan 17th, but there is no time listed nor have we received a call! hmmm....
Well, a port has been recommended so...
Moffitt on the 17th?
Call Dr. Barry about putting in a port
Follow up with Dr. Ball on Jan 25th
In the meantime, several of my friends did Disney Marathon Weekend this weekend - Congrats to all the runners (RunVie & Team In Training)! They raised tons of money for Leukemia and Lymphoma society doing research and patient services; A very worthy cause!
Also, Jack Jones (great nephew) turned eight this weekend; we got to see Shannon & Matt's new house and their newest addition, sir Guinness - a boxer-mix pup. SO CUTE!
That's a PET scan of a different kind! Jude (great niece) has some baby competition.

Some more details
(darn me and my reading)
If I remember what the doctor said, and referring to my reading the form of Hodgkin's Gil had 6 years ago was most commonly seen in the younger age group for Hodgkin's (18-34, although he was 42 - always knew he was unusual). The form he has now is seen in the older age group over 50 (Gil will be 50 this year). (Dr. David J. Straus, 2/8/12)
I guess from the Dr.'s reaction, it unusual to see both forms in the same person, so is it a re-occurrence or secondary incident? Regardless, he faces chemo again and the possibility of bone marrow transplant.
In an odd turn of events, our current student Danielle has decided she should find a new family. She assures us it's nothing we have done, but that she doesn't feel she could handle seeing Gil get sick and she didn't want to be a burden. We've never had a kid want to leave us before, so it's a little mixed emotions, but it's completely understandable.

Diagnosis
Classic Hodgkin's lymphoma. The Dr. read off the details...minor differences between the previous form and this one, so the remaining question is if it is a re-occurrence or completely separate. The bone marrow test will be the tell tale, I guess. Dr. Ball seemed a little surprised at the result of the biopsy - that it would be almost the same - since it has been 6 years.
Either way, it looks like we are starting at ground zero:
Pet scan Jan 8th
Bone marrow biopsy Jan 11th
Because of his allergy to Adriamycin (Doxorubicin)
they may change the chemo regimen he was on before. We figure he's starting chemo probably in February - hoping for 2 rounds (4 months; 2 weeks on, 1 off?); one month radiation; maybe done with all this by summer??
One can hope.

Merry Christmas
We were hoping we would know something by now, but I guess it will wait until our follow-up with Dr. Ball on Jan 2nd. In the meantime, Gil is still healing. His wound looks pretty good - it's been a little red and swollen lately as the stitches are adsorbing; He overdid it a bit over the holidays - between church services, hugs, carrying gifts and all, it has left him a little sore.
We had a nice Christmas down at the folks in Pt. Charlotte. Mom & Dad helped us out with a room at Banana Bay waterfront motel - a really nice motel on the water (for sale if anyone is interested in an investment!). It was a little crowded for three of us (Danielle, Gil and I) and 2 dogs, but it wasn't bad. We got there around 11pm Christmas eve after leaving church services in Tampa around 9pm. It was Snoopy's first long overnight trip, so he was a little anxious that first night. It was fun sneaking them up to Mom & Dad's Christmas day! Sally and Brian were there (my brother & sister). I don't think we have had had Christmas together in about 13 years. That was pretty nice...brings back a lot of memories...not a single 'chubbas' comment...kind of glad, kind of missed it.
When we went to dinner, we fenced the dogs in the bathroom...Snoopy escaped and Merlyn was in complete panic by the time we got back. He may have hurt himself trying to escape as he was very tired and not willing to jump or use steps after; poor pup.
The next morning we went to iHop. OK, the night before, Gil & I said 9am, then Mom called after we were back in the room with news she made reservations for 9:15am. So in the morning, I got a little antsy, so we left just before 9am getting there at like...9:01, and they were already there. I laughed when I saw their car! I come by my 'antsy'-ness naturally. Then, at breakfast, my brother and sister shot me with their straw wrappers. Classic. And as if that weren't enough - when Gil got his drink, he shot me with his too. He actually got a high five from my brother and a "good man" from my sister. *sigh*
Well time to get back at it until New Years; house cleaning, bookkeeping, hair cut, vet appt....yay.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a Happy New Year.
oh, funny little side note, for those of you who get the joke. I am not pregnant - yay mental-pause!

Surgery...
6:54 Sun is rising Gil was taken into surgery. We've been told the lymph nodes go pretty deep so they have to put him deep asleep. We're a little worried because of arteries, nerves & stuff that seem to be on the left side of the neck.
There's a massive blizzard sweeping the North and Mid-West, we're still reeling from the school shooting in Conn., and the world is rumored to end tomorrow...the end of the Myan calendar...and kids a re getting crazy at school.
7:45 Dr. Hood just came out and let me know they are done. Only took one large node for biopsy; the rest are too deep to get to easily. We may have preliminary results in a few days, although his follow up with Dr Ball is Jan. 2nd. I've been given a 'script for pain meds but not gone back to see him yet.
10:29 We're home. I was able to go to recovery about at 8am; took him about 20 minutes or so to 'wake up' - it's like having the memory of a 3 year old - you could say or do anything, he won't remember a few minutes later. Sad and entertaining all at the same time. Stopped at Sam's to get his pain meds, made a quick call to work while waiting. Left poor Gil in the car - he thought I'd left him for good! :( But he's home now and recovering; only dealing with a sore neck so far. Good times!

Left poor Gil in the car - he thought I'd left him for good! :( But he's home now and recovering; only dealing with a sore neck so far. Good times!

Hurry up & wait
Gil went to an Ear, Nose & Throat Dr. Tuesday to have his tonsil biopsied, but, as quirky as Gil is, it just turns out he has an unusually large tonsil and it wasn't worth biopsy-ing. We all know he's an unusual guy!
So...we still need to know what we are dealing with. Gil went back to Dr. Ball, after the ENT called wanting to schedule a surgery before contact dr. Ball....as Gil says, he came to this dance with her, so he's gonna stick with her. We thought we had a surgery appt. for Thursday, Dec. 6th, but evidently there was a misunderstanding and it was just a regular appt. (for...?...unknown).
We finally have an appt. set; Gil will have surgery on his neck for biopsy & possibly more on Dec. 20th at 6:15 am. Then we will celebrate our 21st anniversary...if the world doesn't end!

Almost 7 years
So, it's 8:30pm 2 days before Thanksgiving and Gil is in Tampa practicing for an upcoming concert. Earlier today we went to a follow-up Dr. appointment...
A few weeks ago Gil told me about a lump he felt on the left side of his neck. It was kind of small and hard, but after his history, it's pretty scary. He knew he had a follow up with his oncologist coming up; had to make a quick visit to his general Dr. first for a referral (yes, a referral to see the Dr. he's been seeing for about 6 years now). She felt the lump and it was off for a CT scan (11/16) and that brings us back to the follow-up earlier today. From what she said there was not question about the cancer being back, but more a question of what type - carcinoma or lymphoma. One is at his tonsil and several deep in the neck. So he is scheduled to see an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist (11/27)for his biopsy, in hopes they can biopsy it without surgery. On Dec. 7th we'll find out what we are dealing with and how they plan to treat it.
so what's next?
********
BTW - we also have a new exchange student living with us - Danielle of Norway. There was some sort of issue with the family she was originally with, so now she is staying with us for the remainder of the school year. I think that puts us around 20 some kids!

Gil's Check-up
Here is some information that I have been posting on my Team in Training page (still taking donations by the way... click here )....
Nov. 30th Gil had his follow up appointment. Every looks pretty good, but he has an enlarged thyroid. His ultrasound was Thursday, Dec. 3rd and now we are waiting on the results from that. Many hopes and prayers that it is only scar tissue from the radiation. We should know by Tuesday!
***
Nov. 16th went in for his CT scan. His follow up is Monday, Nov. 30th. We are very hopeful for a clean bill of health and the beginning of a 5th year of remission. I wonder if someday we will loose track of when his cancer was.
***
Nov. 22nd, I did the 1st Women's magazine Women's 1/2 marathon in St. Petersburg. Although not the event I am raising money for, it was an event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and there were several Team in Training participants. It was a great event. A little warm for November, but a nice venue around the waterfront and Old Northeast, St. Petersburg. I did manage to do at 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 14 minutes. Now, to get ready for Disney.
***
We're still waiting for Gil to get his 'new' teeth. With the holidays fast approaching and money being tight, he's been holding off on going to the dentist. We will get there eventually. In the meantime, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has opened a grant to research post treatment quality of life. This is very exciting research - for us and, I'm sure, thousands of others!
***
On Sept. 11th, Gil had oral surgery to have 7 teeth removed. He has undergone hyperbaric treatments to prepare for the surgery because of the damage the radiation did to his mouth. It all started with his last wisdom tooth, but there turned out to be a lot more radiation damage than we knew.

Destiny & Doggies
Wow - it's been a long time since I've done a post....
The story of how Brownie became Snoopy.
Shortly after Christmas (Jan. 2009), we noticed that Red, our oldest dog, needed a new bed. We bought him a corner piece that he seemed to like, but it was bigger than the corner it was put in and so different from his former bed that we tried another one. He kept chewing on it so we put the corner piece back and wondered what to do with the extra bed.
Sometime in Jan. or Feb. of 2009, new neighbors moved into the rental house next door; husband, wife, 3 kids. We often saw the kids coming home from school and one day I had to help them out as their mom wasn't home from college yet (she had just started classes).
One Saturday afternoon (2/14 - valentines day - to be exact) I noticed the van pull away from the house. A little while later, when I was in the garage doing laundry, I heard a dog whine. I checked to see if our dogs were out, but...nope...they were inside. When I came in, I told Gil "I think the neighbors adopted a dog and left him in the garage".
A few minutes later we saw a puppy wandering around the driveway. It was just past 1pm and we didn't know when the family would be home so we took him in. He looked like a beagle, so, not knowing his name, we called him Snoopy. He, of course, went nuts playing with Red & Merlyn. Around 5pm our in-laws came over for a cook-out and were surprised to meet the puppy until about 7pm when the family came home and we had to return him.
Over the next few months we found out his name was Brownie, we caught him the few times he took off through the neighborhood, trimmed a broken nail, sneaked him food in the backyard where he seemed to spend all of his time, tried to teach the kids how to train him and watched him 'play' with "grandpa's" dogs - wolf hybrids. The kids were pretty young, so I tried to work mostly with the oldest daughter, but she, at 8 years of age, seemed to be pretty afraid of the dog. Her two younger brothers wanted to learn, but didn't have the focus.
On & off we had discussed adopting another dog since Nikita had passed, but wanted to wait for Cleo, our oldest cat, to pass. But the appearance of this new puppy in the neighborhood had us really considering it again. I had a friend at school that was diligently on the look out for dogs on 'death row' and trying to find them homes that I started discussing dogs with.
About a month ago, we got a little worried as the family seemed to be gone all weekend, and people were coming by to look at the house. It turned out the husband was being relocated back to Orlando to the job he had been moved here from - managing an American Signature store - a complicated story and I'm sure a sign of our economic times. I asked the owner's daughter that was showing the property about the dog (a mistake??). She was taking care of Brownie while they were out of town but assumed they were taking the dog with them.
As it turned out, the kids were allergic (although I still wonder about some suspicious plants in the front yard) and the condo they were moving into wouldn't take pets. I was at school (work) when Gil contacted me and asked if I wanted the dog. As many times as we had plotted to take the dog I was a little worried, but it turned out that the wife had offered the dog.
We gladly adopted him and re-named him Snoopy. Now, he is 6 months old and has fun torturing Merlyn (dragging him by his back leg, wrestling & biting and some other...stuff), challenging Red, learning how we work, and, occasionally, sleeping in the spare dog bed!

Countdown to Disney
Hello again - yes, I know my updates are far and few between, but it's hard to do updates when there isn't much going on!
Mom & Dad Horton visited for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I've noticed my dad is starting to match his age. We had good holidays, too much food, and a lot of time together. The pups & kitties liked having visitors around - more fun with newer people.
Sad news: Dec. 28th, 2008 Brenda Stima, one of my past team mates and an honored team mate for TNT lost her battle with multiple myeloma. It's so sad and shocking to all of us. In the meantime, we are still counting down to Disney, PF Chang Arizona & Gasparilla. Most of us have completed our longest runs and are in taper mode (Disney & PF Changs). We have to keep up the good fight - for Brenda and all the others.
Disney is less than 2 weeks away!!

quick update
Sorry I haven't been updating too much lately.
First and foremost - Gil had his CAT scan & check-up recently and he is still cancer free and is now on one year check-ups (w/CAT scan). He does have an appointment in May with the oncologist (Dr. Ball) and will be setting up for an annual physical with our general practitioner (Dr. Ray) soon.
Gil is still currently seeking employment, if you know of anyone seeking an employee!
Today we are going to the eye dr. - Gil feels his eyes may have changed some more. A little chemo, a little age, I guess it happens.
As for me, I just did 16 miles today - ok, honest truth, it was closer to 15, and I did not do well - I walked A LOT! Hopefully it was just a bad running day for me.
I've been taking the Wii to school. It's been a bit of a fund raiser with the kids - $1 to play. Something I need to enforce a little more than I do. But it's also been good for my side-job as school 'wellness coordinator' or 'champion' or something....I used the Wii fit portion to start our "Biggest Loser" program at school. And there has been anime club, salad day, Principal's brunch next week, and "Cold Turkey Day" (formerly known as the "Great American Smoke-out").
Soo much fun!
'til next time.

TNT time again!
Oops - I did it again!
A little de ja vu? Nothing to do with Brittany Spears, but I think I have used that opening before.
Well, I have joined up again with Team in Training, the worlds largest endurance training and fund raising program. This time I am training to run the full Disney marathon (yup - 26.2 miles!). AND they asked me to be a mentor! How cool (or insane) is that?
So, let's see - school's back in session and we are enjoying some of the new stuff in our library (tables, chairs, built in presentation station - screen, sound & ceiling mounted projector). Hopefully I can get the Wellness program going and do a "biggest loser" contest with our faculty and do a 'fit fair' with the 3 other surrounding schools. And our first Anime club meeting is next week; and i have yet to do the faculty listing on the website, or Sept. calendar, or ...whatever else.
Gil is still looking for a job. He got a rejection letter from the county the other day, and an cofirmation/rejection email from one of his electronic submissions. I feel so bad that this is just such a bad job market right now and he's never had to job hunt before. It's rough, but we will manage. We've been in tougher spots before (I think)
Well, it's getting late and 5am comes awfully early after a nice summer of sleeping in.
AH - but Labor Day is coming! OH and I'm still signed up for the "human race" on Sunday. I don't know how/where/when I'm gonna squeeze in 6.2 miles after church, but...Can I do it? hummm.....
Don't forget....I need your donations! Help me fight blood cancers one mile at a time...

Most insane race EVER!!
I just finished the last in the series of Picnic Island Adventure runs yesterday - and what an adventure it was!
From the back-up on the Gandy bridge, to losing my car key, to starting the race late due to an impending storm and being told that the race will go on but we run at our own risk.
Not too bad - the first 1.5 mile, sand & grass, was breezy (ok, windy - thought I was going to have to carry my hat) and the rain was just starting to hit. After the obstacle course (cargo net crawl, tires and hurdles), there was a course change - instead of going around the mangroves, which often meant going out into a little water, we had to run thru the mangroves, and the back area was really wet & mucky, like mid-calf. This meant a lot of single file run/walking. At this point, it was full tilt thunderstorm. When we hit pavement, my (prescription) sunglasses were almost impossible to see through. Then it was an other stint through some mangroves, and up onto shell and grass where we ran up and down hills, then around the end of the island and, as we hit the second set of hills we could see lightning hitting the water - not so bad - then hitting the hills! EEK!
Made me run a little faster.
Then it was back out onto the beach with another slight course change - a little more grass and no water run (usually the run goes about 200 yards out into the water, around a buoy, then back to shore for the finish).
I really have no idea what my finish time was - race clock said 35:??; my watch said 33:03 - if/when the pictures come out, I think I will have to buy them.
That was totally INSANE!
Can't wait till next year!!
oh, btw - we found my car key about 20 feet from my car. Fell right out of my pocket (darn, so that's what the zipper is for!). Also, check out some pics I took at the June 27th run (http://www.myspace.com/librarylady411 - click "view my: pics" right under my photo, then select the "Picnic Island" album)

busy busy...
OK - I think in my last post i left off with mom getting a stint put in her heart - all is well there.
So, since I last wrote here is how our busy life has gone:
Gil had a few Dr's visits - Dr. Ray, CT Scan, and Dr. Ball. Everything is good and on track. Next years visit is the milestone: He recently turned 45 (July 5th) so I guess that means some extra special ...stuff. In the meantime, all is good.
Let's see...I've been running a lot. Hog Hustle 5k on May 7th, Picnic Island on May 30th and June 27th (Last one is July 25th), Dunedin Midnight run 10k 12:15 am July 4th; I also ran by Seminole High School's graduation (June 3rd).
I've been doing lot's of training since school let out - the first of which I was one of the instructors and it was my birthday. How fun is that? Yes, by birthday was very interesting...there was an accident on 301 & Interstate 275 three days before my birthday, so my birthday dinner with my parents was post phoned until they returned from their Delta Queen Cruise. We finally met up July7th for a double birthday dinner.
What else? Well, Gil helped me with VBS this year the week of June 16th. Our church is welcoming a new pastor. Cleo dodged the bullet; we thought we were going to have to put her down for the long sleep, but with fluid therapy, she is back to messing with the dogs. And...BIG NEWS ... Gil had a job interview with the county today. It's a county print job and he was the first interview. We are hoping for news soon - 4-6 weeks.
I guess that's about it. I go for another thyroid test tomorrow. I was put on 50mcg of Levothyroxin (Synthroid); I suppose that may change. I'll know in about a week.
Hopefully it won't be 3 months before I update you all again!
Much love to all ...
